A Walk Through The Foothills of Himalayas


The Himalayas form the backdrop to the scenic north of India. This is a wonderful journey into the foothills, where you can trek to remote monasteries and temples and explore Shimla, the former summer capital of the British Raj. Follow the footsteps of Dalai Lama, Visit Khajjiar – Mini Switzerland of India and GoldenTemple – the most significant place of worship of the Sikhs. This journey is fairly active and takes you to off beaten track into some incredible scenic areas.



Delhi – Shimla – Mandi – Dharamshala – Dalhousie – Amritsar – Delhi

Days 1-2 Delhi

Arrival at Delhi airport and included transfer to your hotel. You can arrive at any time on Day 1 as there are no activities planned until the important welcome meeting with your tour guide to discuss the itinerary. Dive head first into the colour and chaos of India. Soak up the sights, sounds and smells of the crowded bazaar and scented spice markets of Delhi. On day 2 we visit the Humayun’s Tomb, Qutub Minar, Lotus Temple, India Gate and Raj Ghat - a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi.

Days 3-4 Shimla

Make an early start by private car to Shimla - once the Summer Capital of British India Company. Arrive and transfer to hotel. The city is draped in forests of pine, rhododendron and oak. It experiences pleasant summers and cold snowy winters. Visit Te Ridge, Mall Road, St. Michael Catherdral and Lakar Bazzar.

Day 5 Mandi

Post breakfast depart in a private car for Mandi - also called "Chotta Kashi" as there are many ancient temples in the city and on the banks of river Beas.
Later depart for excursion trip to Rewalsar, visit Rewalsar Lake and Monastry. Overnight stay in Mandi.

Days 6-7-8 Dharamshala

Proceed for Dharmshala by Private Car. The town of Mcleodganj in Upper Dharamsala is known worldwide for the teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama that take place here every year. Visit Norbulinka Institute – A picture of old rural Tibet, Tsuglagkhang – is a sacred building complex enclosing the residence of Dalai Lama, Visit to Bhagsu Nath Temple - a quiet temple and the numerous pools in the vicinity are considered sacred by devout Hindus and Bhagsu Nath Falls. Spend 3 nights in our selected Dharamshala hotel.

Days 9 - 10 Dalhousie

Depart for Dalhousie by private car. Dalhousie is a beautiful hill station in Himachal Pradesh. Depart for an excursion trip to Khajjiar - often called the Mini Switzerland of Himachal Pradesh and was officially baptized thus by the Swiss Ambassador in 1992.

Days 11-12 Amritsar

Post breakfast at hotel, depart for Amritsar by Car. Later visit Golden Temple, Jallian Wala Bagh and Wagah Border.

Day 13 Delhi

Board Train for Delhi, arrive and later day free to unwind and relax.

Day 14 Delhi – Depart

Visit Akshardham Temple – arguably one of the most beautiful temple of India. Later in time transfer to Airport to board flight for your journey back home.

- Anyone is welcome to worship in a Gurdwara regardless of caste, color, or creed. A specific protocol exists for the Gurdwara and cleanliness is essential. Before visiting a Gurdwara, some guidelines are to be followed:

1) Be modestly attired.
2) Cover your head.
3) Remove your shoes.
4) Wash hands and feet if needed.
5) Bow before the Guru Granth.
6) Offer any donation such as flowers, food items or money.
7) Sit quietly on the floor with your legs crossed facing Guru Granth.
8) Accept prasad, a sanctified delicacy made from flour, butter, and sugar.
9) Enjoy a meal from the free kitchen (Optional).
